How it works
- 1Fill the nine cellsTap a cell and search for your answer. It must match both its row and its column criteria, and each answer can only be used once.
- 2Three livesA wrong answer costs a life. Out of lives, the game ends, but the cells you found still count.
- 3Come back tomorrowOne game per universe per day. Playing every day grows your streak.
How points work
The rarer your answer among players, the more it scores. An answer nobody thinks of is worth far more than the obvious one. Mistakes cost a few points, and finishing fast earns a small bonus.
See the full rules →Dotadoku takes the Doku idea to the 127 heroes of Dota 2. Nine cells, one criterion per row and per column, and at every intersection a hero that satisfies both. Agility crossed with Stun: Vengeful Spirit works, Anti-Mage doesn't.
One grid a day, the same for every player, three lives, and a rarity score that rewards the heroes other players didn't give. Free play generates unlimited grids in four levels. Search knows the nicknames: type "cm" or "am" and the list keeps up.

- Are nicknames accepted?
- Yes. Search recognises the abbreviations players use: cm for Crystal Maiden, am for Anti-Mage, wk for Wraith King.
- What are roles and mechanics based on?
- On the game data published by Valve. Roles and complexity are those of the hero's page, mechanics are those of the hero's abilities.
- How many heroes are available?
- All 127 heroes in the game, including the latest ones. The list follows Valve's releases.
- Is there a French version?
- Yes. The game can be played in English or in French with the same grid, since hero names are not translated.
- Is Dotadoku free?
- Yes. Today's grid and free play are free to play in the browser, no account required. The Doku app is also available on iPhone and Android, with the same grids and the same progress.
